Re: Discussion on what peeps want from a meet up

Input most appreciated, Peter (as the actress said...) Your venue would suit me fine, I reckon. Having put Brighton forward, with Blackpool as the 'de rigeur' follow-up with beer and sarnies, I'm all for the lap-dancing club at the end of the pier. I dunno how many other Beagles will be there, but who cares ? I'll be happy. There are plenty of other attractions on the oddly-named 'Pleasure Beach.' Should be good. Let's do it !!!! :tung:

Yes Bill also I would request that wherever you chose was wheelchair friendly.

Not that i have any problems with mobility when i am sober you understand, but one must be prepared so i always have one to hand(boy scout training).

Re: Discussion on what peeps want from a meet up

Blackpool is fully wheelchair friendly now, according to the bumf we read last time we were there (last August) they are making everything ramps etc for disabled accessiblity.

Manchester is pretty wheelchair friendly.. and its hillarious in certain parts (one day I will tell you of hitting Canal Street with 3 gay friends).
London.. most of the buses are disabled friendly, and if you need London Underground, (02072221234) they can tell you where the disabled friendly stations are.. DO NOT go to Limehouse via C2C if you have mobility problems, there is no lift, and the stairs are steep. Take the Docklands as there are lifts.

IF we decide on London and anyone wants station information, lemme know and I will find it for you.

Peter - I am SURE that any lap-dancing club worth its salt will be wheelchair-friendly - almost by definition !!!

Have you seen Cel's amazing You-Tube link of a mobility scooter on Nitrous Oxide and Viagra ? New tunes sound even better when played on old fiddles, eh ?

Puff - I look forward to your Canal Street story one day. Hey - could you make a few quid as temporary staff in London during the Olympics ? You'd be ideal, I reckon.

Re: Discussion on what peeps want from a meet up

I've spent the last 5 years with my nose in other peeps' fiscal affairs. We share that $h1t here because it's what we are here for, and I would happily post mine here. But I'll PM it to you, Sapphire - as I wouldn't want others to feel obliged to share such stuff un-necessarily. Only YOU need to know it.

                    No worries, thats your perogative.

Ok so what I shall do is decide on the venue and tthe date, then post up various options to suit all pockets. The main thing really is to organise the Saturday evening as everyone will be there, something for the Friday evening for those who are and some ideas for during the day, then everyone can do their own thing.

                    Sorted.

                        Re: LB Meet-Spring 2012--YORK - LB's 5th Birthday!!

Sapphy that is exactly what we did with York lol

We did have an itinerary as a guide but nothing was compulsory although we did want everyone to attend the party which we did and had an amazing turnou with thanks to Ame, Tools and 5 beaglettes. We also did not want anyone on their own being left out and made sure that everyone was looked after. If they wanted to do there own thing they could.

It worked a treat and really do not see a need to change the way in which we organised it for next time no one was under any pressure whatsoever and it was very enjoyable.

We are never going to find a venue suitable for everyone and not everyone will attend all of these meets because of distance. Down south might put off the scotland crowd and up north might stop the southerners coming because of all sorts of reasons.

If you give people to many choices you will never please everyone.

May I suggest somewhere easily reachable by everyone... we need somewhere you can get to from Wales, Scotland and the South.. lemme get my old rail map out and I'll have a look, but maybe somewhere like *thinks* Nottingham or Derby.

had a quick look, the places that look easiest atm is either Manchester (direct from a few major cities) or Nottingham.

Manchester has the Metro for people who have mobility issues, shopping, the football ground and cricket ground quite a few bits.
Good side, easy to reach. Bad side Old Trafford football club.

Nottingham, i'm not sure about the transport, but you have the castle, the sherrifs office, loads to do, great pubs.
Good side, History... bad side, tourists, cricket, rugby.

Leeds, Direct from most places, loads to do, abbys etc within bus ride, disabled friendly, LOADS of pubs.
Good side LOADS to do, nice people and Puff can stay the night at her sisters :P
Bad side, Leeds FC, traffic and the bloody One Way System.

We have rose already visited Nottingham, it was only attended by 7 people. We had a good laugh but it would not be a town I would want to re-visit particularly.
