    Hi
my father passed away on the 30th of december. can anyone help me on how to get mum any benefits she can claim. she used to get careers allowance for dad which they have just written to say has obviously finished now. she thinks she gets a disability allowance for her self once a month. thinks her pension is 109 but not sure if that included the careers allowance for dad in that .
she lives in a council house with my brother who has a disability himself. she has been caring for him also he is unable to work can bairly walk is a diabetic, mum does alll cooks cleans for him but he can take care of his hygeine etc for him self. but think she could only claim obviously for caring for one of them.
is there anyting else she can get/ they didnt pay rent or council tax will she need to now. dad was 84,
all help and pointers of where to go will help many thanks nannie ali.

CAB are very good with benefits. It might be worth your while going there - they may need written consent from your Mum to talk about her affairs with you. :beagle:

      Hello,
You can not claim Carers Allowance once you are in receipt of a state pension so I do not know what your mum was getting unless it was Attendance Allowance, often the two are mixed up.
Rent and Council Tax benefit is means tested but at the very least you should get a discount for there being a disabled person in the household.

Here are the benefits available to disabled people and their carers

Financial support : Directgov - Disabled people

The state pension may change, depending on the National Insurance contributions of her husband.
