  • Letter received, debt from 2004

I received a letter from Link Financial, it said that they are the current owner of a debt from 2004! They request the full amount.

Firstly I have absolutely no recollection of this debt supposedly from MBNA and forgive me for asking, but surely if it was my debt, then wouldn`t this be statute barred by now? Wouldn`t they have attempted to reach me before now?

What would you do in this situation please?

Statute barred debt, ie it's over 6 years with no acknowledgement of the debt. I believe the technical term is, they can go whistle dixie

Showing your age knowing that. You can claim a little more youth by saying you know it from Elvis' American Trilogy. Will you be believed though?

I wouldn't have known it if I hadn't've seen you post it somewhere!
