Cooker Repair

No a non financial issue (well sort of)
I bought a new Indesit Cooker coming up to three years ago, I was offered, but refused an extended warranty, after all it was supposed to have a years one any way.
At the beginning of this year the door handle came apart, we made temporary repair so I could still cook and contacted the shop where I bought it from>
i got no answer but decided to try again the next day, the next day it was announce that they had gone into liquidation.
Another firm has bought them out but not all the outlets our store was one of the ones not included in this.
I contacted Indesist (a frustrating experience by phone I can tell you) and eventually by e-mail.
They tell me that they can repair at a price £120 no including parts OR I can take out a new variantly for £15.76 month (strangely enough i got a mail shot today inviting me to take out a repair/replace warranty for £5.50 peer month!
Now what, at the moment I can still use it, with care but surely something like this should "last" More than this.

Yes it should, but any claim you may have had (under the Sale of Goods Act 1979) rests with the retailer, not the manufacturer. Since the retailer is no longer trading, then you must rely on the goodwill of the manufacturer, or pay for this to be repaired.

How did you pay for the cooker, because this may have a bearing on what rights you may still be able to exercise?

or, as a last resort, could they supply the parts for you to fit?

Paid for it cash and debit card (this to take old one away) I e-mailed the maker again and got a letter from the firm acting for the administrators that anything like this was being looked at.
We do have a branch of the firm that bought them out and will ask them what to do today

I know it's not the solution you want, but it is a solution, linked to Wend's above - you could look on the internet and source the parts yourself, not necessarily from the manufacturer so at a fraction of the price and fit them.

You pay little and have your cooker back and the problem is solved for not much money. If you list the exact model I don't mind having a poke around for you to see what I can find at what price.

Thanks, Casper, got a result, of sorts today, the manager in the shop said to phone Indesit again and see again what they have to say, I will still have to pay something, unfortunately but as a "good will" gesture its not as much and I will then be covered for further malfunctions for a further year.
