  • Argos....return of faulty goods

    Hi to everyone and a very happy Easter to all...

    Okay...here goes....I would be most grateful for any advice regarding an issue with a Digital Camera I purchased for £120 on my Argos card back in Dec 2010...

    The battery of the camera has got worse and worse over time and now only lasts long enough to take 25 pics on the auto settings before it dies completely.
    .
    {I didn't realise the fault was as bad as it was until someone I was talking to a few weeks ago, who has the very same camera, takes 200+ pics before the batteries dies}

    I took the camera back to the local store 2 weeks ago and the assistant sent the item off for repair...

    Argos telephoned me yesterday explaining that the camera has come back to the store from the engineers with no fault found .

    Is anyone able to tell me what I should be doing next?.....All help is most appreciated!

    Please see the above post, whilst the issue is a different one, ie a mobile phone one, the resolution is the same and the law quoted is correct. I assume the camera performance remains the same in spite of their attempts to state that there is no fault?

        Well...despite explaining my rights..Argos still maintain that no fault can be found with the camera...so no replacement, no refund, no nothing...In other words...do one!...

          Purchased Dec 2010 - I make that....er...less than 6 months.
          With ref to SOGA, insist on your rights - Argos policy does not trump legislation (or are they suggesting that the fault is due to 'abuse'?)

            Yeah...too right...they have not said anything about abuse...the engineer had the camera 2 weeks and could not find a fault anywhere...he just reset the factory settings and then said everything should be fine now!...what a load of rubbish!.....looks like being a firm letter sent off to customer services pronto....

              Why have you not written to them with a Letter Before Action? Why are you discussing this with the local store verbally? Put in an LBA to their head office and wait for them to refund you directly.

                Darn right

                These firms will try and tell you that they are right, and you are wrong, dont let them get away with it.

                LBA, if they wont play then Claim in the small claims court. you are perfectly entitled to sue if they wont play.

                I did the same to Comet for the monster in law regarding her microwave which didnt cook food properly, it was easier to heat the food with a magnifying glass than to use the micro lol
