On Monday 29th October at 5.45pm I was collecting my Avon books from several customers in Mount Road, Wickford (luckily my partner had decided to come with me for a walk) and just as I was approaching no. 43A I inadvertently stepped into the hole (in the darkness as that part of the road is badly lit) which caused me to trip and my right foot twisted badly, at the time I felt something 'tear' inside my foot. I did try to 'collect' from another couple of houses, but the pain was excrutiating. My partner ran home and got his car and as my foot was swelling very quickly it was decided that I should go straight to Accident and Emergency at Basildon Hospital.

After being sat in A & E for several hours and having X-rays etc the doctors informed me that I have broken my 5th Metartarsal in my Right Foot, I was then put into plaster and told to keep my foot up completely and put no weight on it at all which I am finding increasingly impossible. I am now hobbling about on crutches and am in a great deal of pain, and am not able to do normal everyday things, such as shower, do housework, go to work, drive, go shopping etc etc. In fact I am now completely housebound thank you. i would remove

The doctor has also shown me on the x-ray that the bone is displaced and when I go back to the fracture clinic on Friday 2nd November 2007 @ 2.35 pm I will have to go for more x-rays and will then be informed if I will have to undergo an operation to repair the bone which will take months to repair or just (hopefully) another plaster which will have to be on for at least 6 weeks.

My partner has taken several photo's of the area and the offending hole in the pavement, and also taken pictures of my leg in plaster should you require copies of these please do ask for them.

I am writing to you to ask that you make sure that you repair the offending hole in the pavement outside 43A Mount Road, and whilst you are at it, could you please also repair the rest of the pavements in that road, as well as the ones in Adam Way, Mount Close and Mount Way as I am sure that due to your negligence there will be more accidents.

Please take notice that I intend to claim full compensation from yourselves for your complete negligence of keeping up repairs on the pavements in our area which has caused me to have loss of mobility, pain & suffering caused by yourselves, and for time and expenses back and forth to the hospital for treatment etc etc

            Awww Sapphire...poor you xxxx
            Get well soon hunny.

For these types of accidents it may be less hassle for you to use an 'ambulance chaser' (did I really just say that!!) :fight:

The reason I say that is because they recover their legal expenses from the council and you get to keep all your payout. If you self litigate you can't claim legal expenses, whereas an injury lawyer can.

Just a suggestion, if you don't fancy loads of hassle. I won't recommend any firms, just turn on ITV2...watch a bit of bear baiting Jeremy Kyle and loads of ads will pop up in between!! No..don't do that! Look up a decent, regulated personal injury lawyer in your area! TBH I don't know if there is much difference!!
But no doubt these types of firms are well versed in all the ways to get a good result for their claimants and fees for themselves.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

              Re: Broken Foot

Thanks for that Celestine, to be honest I really cannot be doing with all the hassle etc and although 'abulance chasers' are not my favourite peeps, I have had a couple of calls from some friends and customers who are saying much the same thing.
Here's what I've been told some peeps got.

Grandma fall down a manhole (cover been removed) £50 k
Lady tripping over pavement and hurting shoulder £12 k

I have various other examples, honestly Its not the money , but I really wat to get these buggers done for the pain and suffering etc.
Hmmmmm wonder if I can claim for missing Christmas bashes pmsl.
Going to take a look on Yell.com now for a personal injury lawyer in our area.
Thanks for your valuable advice hun.

Ok guys I've taken a look, there's loads of them, how do I know who is good, bad or plain shyte.
What do I do guys, do I get someone to do it for me or do I do it myself (remember that I am crap and letters etc and will be relying extremely heavily on everyone here).
Personally I do feel that I would prefer an expert to do it for me. OOOhhhh have an idea, next door neighbour is an Estate Agent and deals with solicitors etc he might know someone. brb

                        Sapp

I would go for a solicitor that specialises in claims rather than a 'compensation company' (the ones that advertise on the telly with bad actors falling off ladders).

Also if anyone mentions you paying up front, having to take out insurance or having to pay them anything, tell them to forget it.

ok i've got an appointment on Wednesday 7th @ 4pm with a nice Solicitor (recommended by our neighbour who had a claim early last year). Looks like they know their stuff according to their website http://sitebuilder.yell.com/sb/show....02686644000030

Let's see what happens on Wednesday then, they wan't photo's, witness statements etc (himself was there so thats handy) and of course the prognosis from the hospital on Friday.

Had the visit to the solicitor last night and she explained everything about no win, no fee etc etc. Anyway we have to get better piccies of the offending pavement (she's given exact instructions on what she wants etc) oh and some letters from people that live around the area so as (hopefully) to prove that the council was negligent in not keeping up the repairs etc.
