  • overdraft charges caused by bank

our bank has put us in overdraft

Can they NOT pay for a direct debit and still charge us for not payin, and then instantly take £25 for unauthorised overdraft and £35 for unpaid item fee?

Our account was sittin at £7.04 today and suddenly bank has taken 2 charges off our account and put us in overdraft again which we will be charged for.
    Can they do that?

Both our wages go into bank same date each month, so could they not have waitied till wages went in before takin those charges off coz now we will be hit with same 2 charges next month coz they couldnt wait 2 days.

We never knew charges were being applied to account and when I spoke to them today, they said letters were sent out but we only just recieved a christmas card posted on 16th december, the other day.

    Which bank?
    What were the charges for?
    Are they pre advised charges?

you need to get the date of the dd changed, if this is what's causing the problem, otherwise the same thing will happen next time. Also get your charges period changed with the bank so that any charges that do come out, come out on payday or just after, not just before.
