The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) aims to provide clear and concise guidance on those areas of employment legislation covered by the Department to aid business growth and make compliance with employment law easier to understand.
For employees seeking advice there is the employee section of the Directgov website which provides a single, comprehensive source of information for employees about their rights and responsibilities.
For employers there is the Business Link website, which provides practical advice for business including taking on staff, pay and pensions, managing staff, problems and incidents and improving staff performance.
The guidance on this site is aimed mainly at intermediaries and practitioners. There is also guidance in other languages on the National Minimum Wage, maternity rights, paternity rights, flexible working and working in the UK - information for migrant workers.
Further information can also be obtained from Acas, who produce a range of booklets, leaflets and handbooks giving practical guidance and advice for both employers and employees, from writing a contract of employment, to holiday entitlement, to the latest employment legislation.
