  • GE Money Arrears

    Hi guys
Hope you're all well. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with GE Money. I owe them about £1700 (got behind in mortgage stupidly, by taking out stupid payday loans and they escalated, eventually leaving no money for mortgage, own fault I know, but money was needed at the time.

Anyway I have stayed in touch with GE Money and have paid them £300 last week, with the promise of another £300 next week when I get paid and also promised to pay my monthly mortgage payment of £1650 (which is crippling us, the interest is so high!).

They keep ringing me at work though and the person I spoke with was so rude I ended up hanging up on her. They have sent me an Income Expense form which I have filled in, and I think, if we live on beans and toast for the next 6 months! I can pay it off. If I do pay this amount, can they ask for more or take me to court? and can i tell them not to call me at work? this is making me ill.
    Thanks
    G x

    Hi Mrs S

Try and work out a sensible mortgage repayment plan for the arrears. Have a look at the Norgan v Cheltenham and Gloucester case which allows the mortgagee to repay over a longer period of time. As long as you are not more than 3 months in arrears. If you need 2 years or longer to pay the arrears then that is what you should do. do not be pushed into paying arrears quicker than you can afford to imho.

I would also keep everything in writing as telephone calls whilst they should be recorded may not and they can renage on any arrangements that they may agree to. You should also keep religiously to any agreement which you reach as if you fail this will be frowned upon.

        Mrs S

you could just try increasing your food bill accordingly if you dont want to bring attention to it.
