  • Howard Cohen - help and advice please

I had a fine from Companies House - late filing penalty - quite justified because I was late filing my accounts. I had already paid it directly when without warning a claim drops through the door via someone called Howard Cohen - I filed defence to advise that it had already been paid and in fact cheque had already been cleared by companies house. However, they wrote and said that they would pursue me for the court costs which they duly are

I've filed a formal complaint with companies house having already paid them £375 but have heard nothing

So if anyone out there can give me any pointers on the AQ which has just arrived as this firm seems intent on going for court costs on a debt which I had already paid then I would be very grateful. I am going to ask for the case to be brought to my local court but do they really turn up from Yorkshire for £80 in costs case?

    Hope someone can help

Fill out the AQ truthfully - you have no idea what they are pursuing you for since the debt has already been paid.

Make sure you comply with each and every court stage because Howard Cohen file many claims and hope, simply put, that nobody kicks up a fuss and fights back. Therefore, they can gain a judgment by default.

      Let me guess.
POC mentions debt assigned to CL Financial.
Well there's a good route of attack coupled with the fact you have already pain thus eliminating the cause of action.
