Re: Being asked to change role in Education Sector - Help plz

Generally the Head will be responsible for the management of staff within the school.
And, as with most careers, your contract will probably state that you may be required to undertake other duties when necessary.
So, in theory, she can teel you that you are required to teach a different year group.

Regarding your Stress, if you are worried about it and you feel it is affecting your health, then you need to make the head aware of this, and if needs be, contact your LEA about this.

Schools are run like businesses nowadays and they wouldnt put you in an area they feel you couldnt handle. I can appreciate that you dont have experience in that year group, but you will know the children, the school, and resources which will be a benefit.

If you do raise a greviance against the head, make it to the chair of governors, as they will have to look into. They will have a sub commitee to deal with complaints about staff and the meeting will be minuted, so nothing could be brushed under the carpet and the head woudl have no involvement in this meeting.
You can then take it to appeal after that, which would be to another sub commitee, with different memebers.

With regards to making you resign, it does not save money really as a new staff member would need training which incurs not only the cost of training but the cost of the cover while being trained.

approx 90% of a school budget is staffing. Our school budget is negative because we have a few NQTs, but hopefully that shoudl swing around next year.

Feel free to ask anymore questions or if you want me to look into any regs for you
