  • Tesco Pension

Hello all, now i have recently been paid and have recieved my wage slip.

Now i done a bit of overtime this mounth and a expecting a bit more money, however when i recieved my pay slip i was sure i was short aout £50 now i took my pay slip to my team leader (i work in tesco by the way) we went through it and we concluded i was aroud £50 short but right at the end she pointed out oh no there it is for your pension payment for around £50

I was absolutly stunned at this i have never signed or agreed to pay into a pension fund and have been told that it is an automatic thing and unless you say you dont want to pay into the pension fund then it will start automatic.

Now i have never recieved or signd any kind of paper work from tesco telling me about paying into this pension fund and i hardly check my pay slips so i didnt even notice untill now.

Any ideas where stand in trying to claim this money back i have already payed because i really cant afford to pay £50 a mounth into a pension and and just dont want to

    Re: Tesco Pension

I think a simple letter to your employers will get this refunded.

Lots of companies have pension schemes which are opt out. I know Local Authorities do this as well.

I would write to them and request it to be refunded and also opt out of future payments if thats what you chose to do.

I might be worth also asking for the documents relating to the pension they are setting you up in.

      Re: Tesco Pension

Usually in your initial contract of employment they state something like unless you tell them otherwise they will assume you have joined the pension scheme and in the first year they will refund the amount paid if you change your mind, but if you choose to do so then you will not have the opportunity to join the scheme in the future.

Company pensions are usually good value for money as they include life insurance etc, and after the tax and national insurance benefits your take home pay is not hugely different to if you were not in the pension.
