  • In need of assistance please

To understand the situation I must give the background story so here we go.

Over 25 years ago I ran a small business with my brother and a friend (all three as partners). At the time our friend had bought a house, however without approval he had used money from our business to make a deposit on the house. This was money he wasn’t entitled to. When my brother and I found out the partner friend admitted and we went to a lawyer and all three of us agreed and signed a document outlining that the house belongs to all three of us and that any profits arising from the property is to be shared between three. Now the issue is that our partner friend sadly died 2 years ago, the lawyer that dealt with the document died and the lawyers office is no longer there or at least it’s so long ago I can’t remember exactly where it is. so as you can imagine I have no idea where to even start.

Just to to give some extra information, I’m no longer part of that business and haven’t been for near 20 years, my brother owns the business.

Our partner friend was married before he passed, but his wife is refusing to disclose any information. We have been very respectful, but 2 years have passed and we cannot stand and do nothing.

The house has been rented from the beginning and my brother and I haven’t collected any money from it.

Any advice would be appreciated. My brother and I have been very patient but we simply don’t know where to start. Again, any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Thank you

    hi and welcome

    Starting points I would use:
    1) try & trace the solicitor using :file:///C:/Users/Others/Downloads/15-how-to-trace-past-solicitors-and-law-firms.pdf

2)Check land registry to see if your interest in the property was registered: https://www.gov.uk/search-property-i...-land-registry
