Re: Lowell - Personal Matter Letter

I have been doing a bit of digging, the ONLY thing I can recall that this might (very remote) relate to was a dispute I had with Orange regarding an old phone contract. As far I can remember I paid everything off (but something may have been overlooked) and closed the account and this was well before 2010 so I can't remember that far back. Am I right in thinking that if these people send another letter indicating that this relates to that old Orange account the debt is statue barred?

Ok got a new letter today, new letter from Lowell saying that they Provident Personal Credit Limited sold my account to them on 29/08/2014 (total balance sold was £306.00). I was never a Provident customer and can not find any mention of them in my records. What can I do to ask for more information regarding this claim?

Re: Lowell - Personal Matter Letter

That’s what I was thinking of doing, CCA request without acknowledging the debt sent via recorded delivery and postal order to pay for the request. That should be ok shouldn’t it?

Remember for a loan it is a S77 request and i will bet a 3 to a penny they can not produce all the documents

Of course there is a possibility it comes back and shows your name and the address where you lived at the time - if that is the case then you need to get the police involved as it will likely be fraud OR the other possibility is that it belongs to someone with a similar name who has gone off the grid

It is better to get these things sorted sooner rather than later

BTW , I started receiving a flurry of debt letters after I took out some credit- they will think you have some income that you can start paying them with

Yes I’m going to send a CCA letter tomorrow. I had a mortgage for the first time last year and a loan for the first time this year so it could be a fraud but I want them to send me the info. Can I assume that if they can’t produce the documents they can’t proceed.

Re: Lowell - Personal Matter Letter

I have sent the CCA request today, given delivery time they have until the end of the month to get back to me with the information. I have no issue with paying if its genuine but since I don't remember dealing with this company in 2014 (was still living at my parents at the time) and I didn't have loans back then I don't think its
