I'm already installing systems like this where possible and it can be a nightmare. Any profit you make as an installer gets eaten into every time you have to educate a new tenant or get called out to a breakdown which turns out to be the customer not understanding the controls. The systems work well and can save energy and money but the majority only want a switch for on or off and a dial for hotter colder. Most smart controls go through wi-fi and internet servers so I can see a future of paying subscriptions towards the use of the servers. Picture the scenario you have now with printers being duplicated with your heating. The printer scenario is your printer stops and gives you the ink empty notification then as if by magic you get an e-mail from the manufacturer inviting you to buy your ink from them, more than a coincidence. Now consider the e-mails you might get when your heating runs through an internet server.
