  • Negotiating with creditors - high cost loans - on stride and 118 money

Hi, I've been posting on another forum on here to ask for help re a ccj claim from a creditor. To cut a long story short I fell ill last year (I have bi polar) after a breakdown, and collapsed under the weight of all the high interest loans and payday loans that I'd accumulated at moments when I was manic or to cover up for the financial decisions I'd made when manic - borrowing to pay other lenders etc.

i am negotiating with the lenders and have payment plans in place for most of the debts but am trying to negotiate with 118 and on stride... both loan principle amounts were £2k each (4K both) and including the interest they are both asking for £4K each (8k in total)

118 have accepted a token payment of £10 while I sort my debts and get back to a consistent income (having used all my company sick pay)
on stride are refusing at the moment.

neither debt has reached default stage yet despite significant arrears.

has anyone had any success with negotiating down the amount of interest that they are charging on the loans? It would really help so much if I were able to get them to reduce this. Alternatively I wait for the loans to default and then negotiate with the debt collectors.

    anynadvice is much appreciated

    thanks
