  • Getting medical records changed

I'm looking for advice on having my medical records amended due to inaccuracies.
Discovered a large number of falsified entries in my medical records by a nurse. Complained to health board. Health board refused to answer the majority of my complaint and excused the falsification (very minor inaccuracies acknowledged probably because they weren't serious enough). Contacted information governance with 100% proof of the inaccuracies in the form of transcripts from audio recordings of appointments. Long story short I'm being denied amendments and addendums as information governance refuse to acknowledge the evidence and are going purely on the outcome of the health board investigation which obviously denied falsification.
Any ideas how I can get my legal right to the storage if accurate data about me exercised? Anyone any experience of complaining to the information commissioners office? I was told I could apply to a court to have the records removed however solicitors just say it's not a personal injury case and don't offer any help even though it's not about personal injury.

There is a booklet entitled "Requesting amendments to health and social care records", published by National Information Governance Board" and downloadable from:
    www.nigb.nhs.uk

    Hope this helps.

I got my copy some time ago but it should still be available. If not, let me know via a reply to this comment.
