VT month before reaching 50%

[MENTION=71570]R0b[/MENTION] I apologise if this question has been answered elsewhere in the forum, I either haven't found it or misunderstood.

I will have paid 50% of outstanding amount on 2nd November with FCA automotive but I wish to VT after my payment in October.

Can I VT (using the template letters available on this site) and amend them to say i understand I will be liable for the amount outstanding taking me to 50%, £240?

Also there seems to be some confusion regards when to cancel DD. Can I cancel this as soon as I get confirmation they have received my VT letter?
