Basically a HMRC have done a credit search on me without my authority. I haven't had good credit for a long time, but I'm working on it and slowly bringing things up. Having worked in the industry I can tell you that excessive numbers of searches can lead to your credit score lowering as it can appear without looking at the full file that you are applying for lots of credit and thus probably in financial trouble.
I am obviously going to write to them to find out what they think they're playing at? However, I wondered if there are any beagles whom know if the actions are in contravention of any law as I'd quite like to drive the point home when I write?
