  • Caught stealing from asda?

ecently I was caught taking something from Asda that I didn't put through the self scan, I paid for the other things just not this. The staff stopped me and we went to the security office. He told me he would normally just charge me for the item but he saw me a week ago do the same with a multipart of coca cola. To be honest it's happened before and his knows why, sometimes I've been short and sometimes I've just been bloody stupid. They made me sign a letter stating I won't set foot in any Asda indefinitely and told me they won't phone the police but if I come in and steal again then they will. They told me to get the ban lifted I must write to the store manager and ask him. I am considering it but worried they will go back through their systems and see the other occasions. Does anyone have any advice on this. I feel sick with shame and guilt.

    Find somewhere else to shop!

You will probably get a demand for payment of "costs" from a firm of solicitors (most likely DWF LLP)
Just ignore it, and any subsequent letters they send.

I've just thought of another use for that 'back pocket' tap Asda use in their advertising, Des.
In view of my Irish ancestry, & re the demand letters.....póg mo thóin

We wouldn't be so indelicate, but the nearest would be "cusanu fy ass"
        But doesn't sound right!

Should I write to the store manager and ask to come back or just leave it and shop elsewhere? I can't believe I've been so bloody stupid? The security staff were very polite throughout and told me no police will be involved. Anyway I should expect this letter soon then? Buy just ignore it?

I personally would not bother writing a letter begging to be allowed back in.
At this close to the incident they are unlikely to reverse their decision yet anyway.

You probably receive the begging letter in 3-4 weeks.
            Ignore it.

Thanks for the help mate. Ive been sick twice today worrying about it. Im not a bad person so have no idea why i was doing this shit, ive been in a bad place for a few years but its not an excuse and shouldnt be. My mind has been on overdrive today and its probably just desserts really, i was in my work clothes when it happened and im paranoid they will send info to my bosses even though they said they wont involve the police or contact anyone about it as long as i agree not to return. Ive been worrying about them trawling through video evidence to see if ive done any more, which i have on a small scale i.3 eating something in the store and things like that, or putting something in the bag at the self scan because i was fed up of scanning it, it makes me a bad person and im more ashamed than anything.

Look, stop beating yourself up over this.
Yes, theft is wrong, but it is hardlty the crime of the century. There's a lot worse things happen in the world.

You've been caught, it has frightened you to death.
Learn from it and move on

If the letters you receiv worry you, come back here.

Asda will not be passing your details on to anybody other than DWF
