  • Parking fine. Now received a Claim from the CCBC

Back last year my partner's father paid for a ticket to park on a private car park. He paid the correct amount for the time he wished to stay. A few weeks later he received a fine with the parking company saying that the vehicle registration number had not been entered correctly and it was missing a digit. We disputed this and appealed to Popla which was rejected. After several correspondences later we sent them a cheque for £10 to cover any administration charges as final settlement in the matter. The cheque was cashed by them so we assumed that the matter was closed. He has now received a claims form from the CCBC for a total amount of £ 230.76! Can anyone advise where we stand? In my eyes whilst we realise the digit was missing, no time was spent in the car park without it being paid for. The company has received the parking fee from us plus an additional £10 and surely the company shouls not have cashed our earlier cheque if they were not accepting it?!! There is no mention of this money on the claims form.
Any advice/information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Full and final settlements or attempts at them are fraught with danger. What exactly did the letter say that was sent with the cheque ?

Post up the claim form and anything else such as PCN, paid ticket, signs etc you may have (remove personal info and barcodes 1st)
