My friend has been with his employer full time for 5+years and his boss now claims he wants to reduce his hours to a 3 day week. The boss says he isn't working fast enough, it is in construction (my friend is still working at the rate he has for the past 5+ years).

Although we have no proof we also expect the reason for this change is another employee has asked for a raise, and the boss wants to keep this man.
It it is a small company so their is no HR department.
