Hi all,
Not to long ago (2 yrs) i moved to a flat with a water meter, i kept paying my bills like a good boy even though i thought they were high, after about 15 months i moved in with my girlfreind so the flat was empty for 6 months, i kept getting high bills and questioned the water company as to why this was, They told me that my meter readings were correct so i must be using the water...
I tried to read the meter myself but the cover was stuck fast, after a lot of calls and complaints they sent an engineer who along with myself managed to lift the cover and guess what? they had not read the meters under this cover because the meter reader couldnt lift it on his own, it turns out that this has been going on for years! my actual reading was nowhere near what they had been billing me so it looks like i wont be paying anymore water bills for a long time to come! result....
Dont take it for granted that whoever reads your meter is actually doig it check for yourself....
