  • Scottish Power - NIGHTMARE :mad2: cant get a mortgage now! Please help!

    Hello guys,

I really need some help. Scottish Power placed a default on my account whilst I was out of the country, I was on the other side of the planet at the time consuming no energy and they guesstimated my bills and put a default on my account. I have contacted the Energy Ombudsman with the following complaint:-
Complaint summary Mr Moores has a complaint about Scottish Power's handling of his account. The issues are as follows: • Mr Moores states he sent Scottish Power many emails asking the company to set up a direct debit for his account whilst he was out of the country. • On 29 November 2013 the company put a default on his account and credit file from lack of payment. • He states he complained to the company and requested the default removed, this complaint went on until 2015. • Mr Moores states the company finally agreed due to its error it would remove the default from his credit file. • He says it advised this would be done in 15 days and sent £40 as a gesture of goodwill. • Mr Moores states this did not happen so contacted the company to raise a new complaint. • He states he continued to contact the company from November 2015. • On 9 February 2016 the company advised that it will not be removing the default as it was his fault.
Scottish Power are standing their ground on this, I need advice on how I go about getting this removed.

Obviously I did not receive a default letter as I was 6,000 miles away, I was in contact with them via email and they knew this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Good morning, welcome to LB,

Has SP issued a " Final Response Letter"?
SP don't have to issue a " default notice " as such because the debt arose from a service contract.

At what level have you been dealing with SP just customer service?

Yeah its currently in deadlock and I have received a final response - mainly been dealing with them over the phone recently as I really need to get this sorted. I have wrote many letters titled to the customer service director, I have received terrible service from them usually canned responses saying they will get back to me.

An age old problem moores, dealing with customer service is usually totally pointless no authority to do anything other than spout a company script which more often than not just ends in " computer says no".

Raise a formal complaint addressed to the CEO of SP be clear concise on what has happened an what you want to be done about it.
