  • Faulty glasses

    Any advice would be appreciated.
I had my eyes tested by ASDA and purchased two pairs of glasses. One pair react to light and I use these for driving as my eyes are light sensitive.I started having problems with them my view through the right eye looked a bit misty. When I cleaned my glasses the right lens seems to have gone misty and it has minute cracks in the tint it looks like someone has taking sandpaper to them.

Until the glasses became faulty I could see perfectly well with them.My wife returned the glasses and even though ASDA admitted they had developed a fault they said they were over two years old and I hadn't had my eyes tested for two years so I would have to have an eye test and pay for new glasses. I have another pair of older glasses with the same prescription that do not react to light and I can see fine with them so I don't think my eyes have changed. If after testing my prescription is the same shouldn't ASDA replace the faulty glasses as they should be fit for purpose for 6 years.I don't see why I should have to buy new glasses because of a fault in the lenses.

    Re: Faulty glasses

    IMHO

If you bought the glasses 2 years ago, the Sale of Goods Act 1979 would be applicable.

The goods should be of satisfactory quality, & even allowing for wear & tear, the lens should not have developed the fault as described, unless it had been subjected to some maltreatment which the other lens miraculously escaped!

& I doubt that Asda would try to say it was natural deterioration - you have a comparator (the left lens).

Your complaint to here would gain attention

      Re: Faulty glasses

Thanks for the reply you have echoed my thoughts.I have only ever cleaned the glasses with the cloth provided by ASDA.The left lens is in the same condition as when purchased the right is like looking through a lens with Vaseline coated on it.
I will take the glasses with me and if my prescription has not changed I shall mention SOGA.
