  • Re-conditioned Engine Scam

Hi all, I have had the misfortune of needing a replacement engine for my car.
I sourced one online and subsequently paid for it by bankers draft. Needless to say the engine never appeared and the company seems to have disappeared.
    Company Name:
    UK Engine Supplies
(trading name of Latchmere Court LTD)
Registered Address:2nd Floor, Broomfield Rd, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 1SYTrading Address:
    Unit 21,
    British Wharf Industrial Estate,
    Landmann Way,
    Lewisham,
    SE14 5RS

After a bit of research, it would appear that these people have made a career out of selling non-existent engines and disappearing before a refund can be secured.

I have reported it to the police, who do not seem interested and referred me to Action Fraud, who also don't seem too interested.

Has anyone come across this before and is there anything I can do to get my money back?

    Thanks for any advice

    Re: Re-conditioned Engine Scam

I just gave this guy £800 yesterday! He says his name is jonathan king here is the number I have for him 02034440114. I have since done a lot of research on this and its a scam. I paid him by bank transfer so no way of getting the money back! The engine should be here on thursday but I don't think it will? This guy needs to be caught now!!!!!!

Contact your bank straight away and contact the bank you paid into. The only way is to try and get them to stop withdrawal being made from the account.

Also can you post links to the other info you have found to show this might be a scam.

          Re: Re-conditioned Engine Scam

Quite often you will find that scams are perpetrated in dormant companies names when really it has nothing to do with that company. We see it an awful lot with the ebay trader car scams, so nothing can be taken as read and the owners of Latchmere may have absolutely no idea their name is being used.

Why did you remove it? To see if you could track him down?
