  • Landlord kept my bond!

I recently moved out of my property & my letting agency has said that replacement carpets & cleaning is required so they are refusing to repay my bond of £500.

When I first moved into the property, I was told my the lady who showed me round they would replace 3 of the 4 carpets because they had paint, stains & a foul smell + re tile my bathroom which had broken & missing tiles. None of which happened like once I had signed they didn't care. The house was in poor condition but during my stay I purchased decent carpets for all the rooms. Decorated & repaired damaged walls, tiles not to mention spending a good chuck of money on having some walls re plastered that had blown & falling off the walls that my landlord claimed way own fault. I don't think having plaster stuck to the wallpaper that came off when taking off the wallpaper my own fault.

Anyways, the house was left clean & in very good condition as I took care of my home. But my letting agents are claiming they need to do this & that even though I know this to be a lie!

    What can I do?

      Hi

was there a inventory and any photos when you moved in
      how long was your tenacy
when, in the tenacy, did you replace the carpets & was the carpets, of at least as good a quality as the originals.

      then,
have the letting agents ( LA ) provided you with a list of issuse and did they give you time to sort them, or object
      Have they sent you reciepts

LAs or LLs can not just say there not paying you back without following the rules,

Write to the LA, asking for any of the above tbey have not provided you, tell them that you need all within 14 days to start your claim for the deposit.
crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even
