  • Banned from Asda and not sure what I should do pls help

Hi guys I am new to this forum and sorry for that as my first post is something unhappy and frustrating

I went to a store yesterday and tried to get some bargains and reduction as I am a student and always try to save money. When I left the store a security guard came and said they banned me from the store as they accused me of shoplifting. I asked if they have any evidence and they said they don't need to explain. This bastard even kicked my trolley and said sth really bad which make me feel he is a racist.

Today I called the store manager and he told me something different. He said they banned me because I tried to use the gun (thise the staffs using in the store) to marked down the goods I wanted by myself. This is even more ridiculous as I have never worked at Asda before and I don't even know how to use the gun. He said he is the store manager and he can make the final decision and that's why he decided to ban me. I don't think I will shop at this store again even though I know a lot of staff working there as I go everyday to get bargains and most of them are quite nice to me. They should know that I am not suck kind of person. Anyone know what should I do now? Called the head office of Asda or tried to send a letter to the manager again (Probably this is not working)? Also regarding the security, what can I do to express my discontent with his behavior? (Not sure if I should post what he said here as I was insulted by him with my ethnicity and race)

Lastly, thank you so much guys and sorry the story is a bit long!!

Hello and welcome to LB . don't worry about long posts yours is short compared to many . I have to say that you have been treated very badly . Did anyone witness the security guard making racist remarks? I would write to head office with a formal complaint . Other beagles will be long laer with better advice who are better at writing letters than i am .

I am not disputing the fact you think he was racist but can you give some idea as to the comments or attitude that you took that way.

As for the using the reduction gun, I am really not sure what they think you have done. Is it used the gun to create a label or swap a label , did they take anything off you or give you a written statement of ban.

The easiest option is just to not go to that store again and chalk it up to experience but if you are sure that you did nothing wrong you need to decide if the effort of fighting this is worth it. I know I would want to fight it but I also know that it could be difficult.

What they said is that I tried to use the gun to marked down the things they have reduced. For the store I visited they usually do reduction 3 times a day and for the last one all things are reduced to 10p for most of the time. They said I tried to use the gun to reduce the stuff before they do the final reduction. But I am sure this is impossible because all the staffs are always carrying their gun with them and even they leave it there I don't know how to use it!! I won't visit the store again but I just want justice as I did nothing wrong.

Don't think there were any people around. He told me just follow him to the office and I guess he wanted me to sign sth and promise not to enter the store anymore. However I refused as I was not sure what they gonna do to me in the room (not even sure if there are any CCTV in there, I am sure if I entered the office there are no witnesses but quite unlucky there were not much people there on that day. Thanks for your suggestion anyway and any ideas how to write the letter to the head office?

Where as there is nothing stopping them banning whomever they like from their store, there are laws regarding the damaging of someone's reputation.

I would base any correspondence arround this. Demand any proof they have regarding the allegation or insist they withdraw it and issue a formal apology.
