  • Help needed please regarding a severn trent water bill

    Hi All
I received a letter from Rossendales saying that my unpaid severn trent water bill had been passed onto them and that i needed to contact them to make payment or sort out a payment plan.

I spoke to a severn trent advisor over messenger who then got some one from the credit team to phone me. I told them that i wanted to set up a new repayment plan with them to get the bill paid and to sort out payments for future services, but i was flatly told that everything had to go through Rossendales for the current bill and future payments.

what i woiuld like to know is how can i get them to take the bill back and me to make the payments to them instead of Rossendales. i had a bad experience about 4 years ago with Rossendales and their bailiffs and i really don't want to go down that route again.

i must state that the letter is not a hand delivered bailiff letter, I want to stop it before it gets to that stage. i work shifts and me and my other half have a 6 month old baby now, so the last thing i need is some meat head turning up when I'm not there trying to intimidate my girlfriend whilst she is alone with my son.

Basically this bill is just something that comes down to out of sight out of mind, we got behind with it early last year i made a few payments on a payment card but then one thing after another happened i started to forget to pay it and then completely forgot about it and we haven't had any correspondence from them in nearly 12 months and then this letter come through the post yesterday.

Sorry to go on. Any advice would be greatful.

    Thanks

    Martin

Rossendales act both as bailiffs and debt collectors. Have the water company obtained a CCJ against you for the unpaid bills? If not, they can't use bailiffs to recover the debt. It may well be that Rossendales are just acting like debt collectors, in which case they are like any other DCA, bailiffs couldn't get involved without a CCJ against you. :thumb:
