  • under investigation do i resign

    hi
i have been suspended from work for the last 4 weeks pending investigations to some allocations a staff member made against myself, i have attended a meeting to put my side across, i received a phone call yesterday to say they are recommending a transfer to another service (i work with learning disability's) and disciplinary action in which the outcome could be anything from demotion, warnings to dismissal, if i hand my notice in can they still proceed with the disciplinary action, i have worked for the same company for the last 10 years and have nothing on my record, i am amendment to leave the company as i feel that they are trying to get rid of me anyway i just dont want anything on my record so when i go for interviews i don't have to declare anything, i have already expressed my concern as the other services and 40 minutes travel away from home and there also not the type of service i want to work at as they have sever learning disability's and it is a very noisy service it will also impact on the amount of child care i will need and the cost of this i cannot afford

If you resign during the disiplariny process the can state it on your reference. so you will need to decide if you can afford that on any reference that a future employer may recive.

just to add to ssparks2003, yes they can proceed with the disciplinary during the period of your notice.

If you leave the company will not declare anything false on your reference. They can say you left whilst under disciplinary and they can see the process through in your absence.

Presumably they are recommending your transfer to another service as part of this investigation. This may be beneficial to both you and them as it helps to put the allegations to bed.

It might be a thought to accept the transfer and then move on shortly after of your own accord. At least you can then say you were transferred and didn't like the travel and decided to move on. If you are worried about references then that would be a far better approach.
