  • Help with letter to t-mobile asking to correct and remove default in credit history

    Hi All,

I would appreciate your help with letter to T-mobile to correct default in credit history. The letter should be self-explanatory. I suspect that much can be improved and the letter can be made stronger.
Btw, to whom and how to send this letter?

    --------------------------------------------------
    Dear XXX,

In May 2012 I have ended my one month rolling contract with T-mobile for a phone number XXX. Few months ago I have received letter from company called Lowell informing me that they purchased my 29 GBP debt from T-mobile. Unaware of such a debt I have contacted T-mobile customer services and was told that although there is no much records available I have been overcharged for early termination of the one moth rolling contract 12 pounds which were deducted and that I owe about 17 pounds for some other services. I have immediately paid the remaining 17.18 (on 10 December 2014) and was told that the debt is settled. I was also told that my credit history will be updated within 6 weeks.
However, today (09/02/2015) when I check my credit history files, they state:
LENDER: T-Mobile Brought To You By Ee
    BALANCE: £ 29
    UPDATED: 01/01/2015
    STATUS: Default

Which is clearly incorrect information. First, I never owed 29 GBP but 17.18 GBP, and second, the debt was settled in December 2014. Moreover, the incorrect information of 29 GBP includes all past records.

Aside of correcting the credit history records, I would like to ask you as a gesture of good will to completely remove all records of the debt and default from my credit history because they are result of an inadvertent action. In May 2012 I have ended the one moth rolling contract because I was moving for four months out of UK for a student internship. After termination of the contract I believed that all money are correctly settled (I have paid May balance) as well as I haven’t used any T-mobile services after May 2012. After returning to UK I have lived on different address. If T-mobile attempted to notify me about the debt, I did not received any correspondence nor any email regarding this matter, hence, I could not settle the debt then. Once I was informed about the debt, I have promptly settled the matter with T-mobile. Aside of that T-mobile overcharged me for the services 12 GBP. Therefore, please kindly remove all information about the debt from my credit history.

    Kind regards

Re: Help with letter to t-mobile asking to correct and remove default in credit histo

    Hi welcome to LB.

The fact is there was a defaulted balance be it £17 or £29, paying it off should result in the CRA entry being marked "satisfied" only and not removed from CRA files.

The best you can do is write to TM/EE and ask for them to remove the default entry as a gesture of good will because of circumstances beyond your control.

Google the phone company find the name of the CEO and write to them.

There is however no guarantee that EE will agree.
