    Hi all
Last year I was paying a debt by instalments, a CCJ , to GPB solicitors but the SRA closed them down due to dishonesty.
The SRA notified me by letter that the debt would be transfered to another solicitor in due course.
Yesterday I received a letter from LH solicitors stating they have now taken on the debt and that they have informed the Nottingham county court .
I Googled this firm and it seems they have a really bad reputation!

Can anybody give me any tips and advice how this firm is operating ?

    Thanks

Can I ask why you are paying to a solicitor and not the person or company you owe ?

        Re: HL solicitors

        Hi Kati
I'm using my mobile so it may be a problem but I write what's in the letter..
        ''Dear sir/madam
        Our client : xxxc
        Agreement no:00000
We refer to the above matter and enclose Notice of Change of solicitor by way of service on you.
We confirm that a copy of the Notice has also been
        Filed at Nottingham County Court.''

on the back is headed Notice of Change if Solicitor
        Claim number, claimant, defendant.
Then they had ticked box B, we hl solicitors have been instructed to act on behalf of the claimants in this claim in place of Gpb Ltd.
Then box C, I (we) have served notice of this change on every party to claim (and on the former solicitor ).
Then there's hl detail, address, fax number etc

There's a box for signature, but it's blank.

The debt is for a overseas student loan and didn't pay it forward years but my mum had paid two installments.
So it went to a solicitor who went to county court and I got a CCJ.

Have they told you what payments they are wanting from you?? Or just sent a letter telling you that they have been assigned the debt??

              Hi twix
it looks like they are informing you of change of solicitor if i'm correct as this is a CCJ they would have to take this to court to get payment change as payment would have been agreed already.
why not give them a ring Monday and see what there intentions are

                    Re: HL solicitors

I was paying GPB solicitors up to the day they were shut by SRA.
                    LH has now taken over.
Will do everything in writing as I want proof if something goes wrong.

Yes everything in writing and as has been said they can not up your payments only a judge can do that with a CCJ

The court agreed with my proposed amount and should not be increased. Also. I found out if the LH adds charges on top that would be illegal.
Seems that LH is a firm who also acts as a debt collection agency.
The only thing about this firm was from 2007 and they were acting above the law. So I guess I'll be messed about.
