  • Bank sending incorrect payment details to credit agencies

    Hi,
I bought an Apple computer last December and took advantage of apples 0% finance offer - this was via loan from barclays partner finance - machine arrived and didn't work properly so in January I started discussions with apple to sort it out and also called barclays - they said fine, we will help with your claim and suspend your account so no payments are due until you have a properly working computer - long story short - its taken 6 months to get apple to confirm they can't actually fix the problem - there is an issue with Mavericks, the updated operating system, - then called Barclays and it turns out that during the last 6 months despite hearing nothing from them at all, and them making no attempt to debit or charge me any money - they have reported each month to all the credit agencies as an unpaid - thus giving me 5 months in arrears when no money was due - have now contacted all, including the ombudsman, Barclays were very sorry, so were apple - in conclusion Barclays have offered £500 for the trouble and written off the loan - Apple can't do anything at all, after 3 swapped machines and non working properly - so the question is should I be happy with Barclays offer or keep on the attack as they have ruined my file, prevented me from accessing credit for 6 months meaning I had no choice but to take 1 small payday loan and also had to sell goods on ebay to release cash which otherwise I would have just increased my o/d or found alternate solution - I would say the costs for the above are between 5k and 10k.
Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings
    Mike
