  • Halifax Visa Dispute Refunded Now Realised Was Genuine, Please Help, So Worried,

Hi recently made a visa dispute with my bank Halifax.

After looking at my account I realised there wherre many transactions for dec and jan, to who online.

I googled these and it came up as william hill, I do use gambling websites but could not rememeber having an account with them, so I contacted them and they couldn't find one for me, so told me to contact my bank.

I did so, originally the fraud dept, who came back and said they were made from an ip address I had previously used, so it was a visa dispute not fraud and they put me through to the relevent department after cancelling my card.

I told them I did not recognise them, and they said they would dispute them.

They refunded the money and said I would have to fill out paper work to state they were not genuine, if i didn't they would debit the money from my account.

I moved the money into my fathers account as they had cancelled my card and I had no access to any money.

Upon going through my bank I have noticed they have refunded ones that go back to Novemember which I had not noticed.

This jogged my memory that I opened my halifax account around that time and, signed up to a gambling website but could not remember which ( mainly because myself and my mother have quite a few different accounts and sometimes I play on hers ) anyway upon further investigation I have noticed they are infact genuine payments.

I have told the bank as soon as I realised and they stopped the dispute.

I am 27 weeks pregnant, and in hospital daily for blood pressure checks as I am quite ill with this pregnancy, this has added to the forgetfull ness and baby brain, it was a genuine mistake but now I am worried I am some how liable for fraud.

Theyve told me they will debit the money from my account in 3 days, but I am not sure there will be enough in there will they just take it and take me into an unauthorised overdraft or can they call the police?

I moved the money to my dads account so I had access using his card, he has alzheimers and I will have trouble getting him to the bank to return the money.

I am now very worried have contacted the bank to explain and no reply yet.

How did the Gambling site get your card details? How did the transactions happen from yours as you say Previous IP address does someone you know have access to the site from that IP address

Re: Halifax Visa Dispute Refunded Now Realised Was Genuine, Please Help, So Worried,

Did you read my whole post? Sorry if I have made it very confusing.

The debits are genuine, at first I thought they weren't as I contacted william hill and they could not find an account, which turns out they had closed it.

I reported them as I thought they weren't genuine, and I have now realised they are genuine and have informed the bank.

Who have stopped the dispute, and have said they will debit my account for the original payments. Which is fine, as I owe it.

However there is not enough in there to cover it.

My question is what will happen regarding that.

You have done the right thing informing the bank and you have kept the refunded money to one side, which is always a good idea in case of errors.

I have the money to one side just going to be difficult getting it back in.

Will they send me into an unauthorised overdraft or will they take it further if they can't debit it and see it as theft? Or send to a debt collection? So worried

              Thank you.

I informed them it was a mistake on the monday, originally made the claim on a friday tried to let them know on the saturday but the department i kept getting put through to was closed till monday.

No problem paying the money back, just now worried about timings.

I feel so silly for not keeping a better eye on it and forgetting I had done something but I have had such issues this pregnancy that other things over took.

I have emailed the ceo to let him know too, probably wont help.
