  • Forced change of contract

    Hi,

Myself and colleagues have recently been issued with new contracts requesting us to take a 10% pay reduction but to provide additional working hours. I personally have been with the company for 7 years.

The new contract doesn't provide any acknowledgement of my previous time served (therefore, no redundancy entitlements if the company went under).

What would be the outcome if we decided not to accept/sign these contracts? We have been advised that failure to do so could result in termination of our employment.

Any information on this is very appreciated as are quick responses as we are against the clock on this one.

    Thank you for your time.

    Re: Forced change of contract

Hi Jacko, any major changes to your contract need to be given one months written notice, this gives you time to accept the changes, reject the changes or negotiate the changes, you need to do none of the above, but in doing so continue working but under duress.
The previous 7 years work cannot be wiped off, and would need to be negotiated should you not wish the new contract terms.
If the company tell you, that you have to accept the changes, or lose your job, get in touch with your local ACAS for constructive dissmissle.
