Advice needed

Hi all,

Had a contract for a monitoring and maintenance service for a home security system, this contract was for 36 months.
7 months after the contract finished I noticed I was still paying them per direct debit and canceled it straight away!
Could I claim those payments back from this firm? nowhere in the contract states that it rolls over after it's finished and they never contacted me that it was finished/ or offered a new one.

Are you sure the original contract doesn't cover them for this?

Yes, no mention of it and when I phoned them about it they admitted that but their excuse is that they are a security company and that the costumers often carry on on a ''evergreen basis'' what ever that means

Agreement between two parties that is automatically renewed (rolled over) after each completion- or maturity period, until canceled by the either party.
