People planning to sell their properties will no longer need home information packs (Hips), the new coalition Government has announced.

Many estate agents said buyers paid little attention to the information in Hips

The packs, which were first introduced in 2007, were designed to simplify the process of selling a home but attracted widespread criticism.
Housing minister Grant Shapps said: "Today the new Government is ensuring that home information packs are history.
"This is a great example of how we are determined to get straight down to work and cut pointless red tape which is strangling the market."

good news - the fact that they did not last for a long period of time during a slow market was a big disadvantage.

Nothing wrong in people being more prepared before they put their houses on the market though and I am sure the agents could assist with that.
