Called Platform mortgages to confirm what my new monthly payments will be now that we are at the end of our fixed term.

After several calls and some cross words and lots of telling off I discovered that Platform mortgages appear to have a little glitch in their systems.... (accidentally on purpose me thinks) When I first called they insisted I have 2 months left to pay on my fixed rate, I read to them my mortgage documents that states from 1st of November 2009 I will be paying a variable rate and after more calls 3 hours and explaining to them again and again I was told that yes I am right and they will fix that for me now and on the 1st of November my new payment will be £595 (a huge drop from £1329.50)

oh and get this...I'm not to worry this didn't just happen to me but has effected several thousand accounts ....all of them paying 2months extra on fixed rate than they are meant to.....but because I called they fixed it for me...bet they dont fix the thousands of other accounts

    Naughty Naughty Platform...

    Re: Platform Mortages -Naughty Naughty!

I dont trust them to have fixed it over the phone so am sending this as well, post via special delivery just now.

Following three phone conversations with your telephone operatives today I now understand that there is a discrepancy in the details of my mortgage that you have on file with relation to the date that my last fixed-rate payment is due to be taken.

To confirm, my mortgage agreement with you incorporates a 2-year fixed rate term, meaning that I agreed to repay my mortgage at an agreed fixed rate (7.14%) for the first 24 month of my mortgage agreement with you. This is clearly stated in section 4 of my mortgage offer. As my first payment was taken on 1st November 2007 this means that my last payment on the fixed rate has now been taken (on 1st October 2009) and that my next payment (on 1st November 2009) will be at the new rate of 2.45% above LIBOR (currently 0.75% according to your telephone operative).

I have now been made aware that there is some discrepancy on your system as it appears that your records show that I am paying this mortgage 60 days in arrears. This means that you would have attempted to take additional payments at a fixed rate of 7.14%. This would represent a 25th and 26th payment and as such would not be correct.

As I have never missed a payment or made a late payment since the beginning of this mortgage agreement I fully expect you to adhere to the terms and conditions of this mortgage agreement and ensure that the payment collected on 1st November 2009 is at the revised variable rate.

By contacting you by telephone and in writing a clear 18 working days before this payment is due I believe I have given you more than enough notice regarding this issue and I fully expect you to confirm to me in writing within 7 working days to confirm that any payments taken from me against this mortgage from 1st November 2009 onwards will be at the agreed rate of 2.45% above LIBOR. If you fail to do this I will have no choice but to bring this matter to the attention of the FSA.

    Yours Sincerely,

    mochamoo

Got a rambling letter today from them they are right we are wrong blah blah blah but they will out of the goodness of their heart () start our new lower rate payments from the 1st of November.

They also included a letter confirm the new rate and payments

Methinks I was right, they was wrong and they are just to snotty to admit it. Cheeky feckers

I am now £734.50 a month better off

          Sure will

I am annoyed that they are sneaking extra payments out of people, I wonder how many more people have been affected by their little "glitch". Its all very sneaky and very naughty, if we hadnt been on the ball they would have got away with it.

I wonder if this 'little glitch' should get a bit of publicity - get platform acting a bit more proactively lest they be swamped by calls ?
