  • Asda Online Shopping/Home Delivery Farce

    Hi All

This may sound kinda petty and stupid but you would not believe what happened to me today!

I did my usual weekly online shop from Asda for home delivery yesterday. The transaction was successful and my shopping was scheduled to be delivered between 12 and 2pm today..

However, something so simple has turned out to be one big farce ! I have been 'searching' for my 'lost' shopping all day and it is no-where to be seen.

Apparently ,the delivery driver had 'rung' on my doorbell 3 times at 2pm and he said there was no answer. Unless I was abducted by aliens today or knocked unconscious, then I am pretty sure I was in all day and I would of heard my door bell ring.

Ive been on the phone back and forth most of this afternoon and evening complaining to the deputy manager and night manager of the store. They have both sworn to me that the delivery driver had delivered my shopping at approx 2pm to my neighbors at number 10 ( I'm number 11) ( if this is the case, then someone in the family should of signed for it. ) I knocked on number 10s door this late afternoon, with no reply.

The whole family have been out most of the day, (new birth in the family)so I had to wait til they came back to see if I could 'retrieve' my shopping.

They got back at approx 9.45pm. Its very lucky that I am friends with them to knock so late in the evening, otherwise I would of had to wait til tomorrow morning.
Anyway, my neighbors say they have not taken any shopping in. So I am back to square one still 'hunting' for my stuff. I got another call from the manager an hour ago promising to investigate this fiasco. Hate to say it, but someone is lying.

Sad thing is, I have always been a loyal online shopper and enjoy my shops at Asda, but this is not the first time my shopping as gone 'astray'. Also, I have frozen products sitting in those bags.

I think my sense of humor kept me going today, but I am now getting to breaking point, and don't need this while I'm getting over a chest infection

    Anyone got any ideas?

Tell them to forget it and give back your money today and that you'll never shop there again.

See what they say to that first.

You didn't sign for the delivery so stuff Asda, their problem, ask for a full refund.
Borrow money from a pessimist -- they don't expect it back.

        Hi Amy and HOD

I wish it was that easy TBH. A full refund would be an easy way out, but I am a stubborn mule sometimes and I wanna get to the bottom of it. lol

The point is I was told that my shopping had been delivered to my neighbor and someone in that family had signed for it and if that was the truth, then I wanted it back. Why should they get a freebie at my expense?

The beauty about shopping online is the fact it is the 'convenience' and it is supposed to make life a bit more easier when I'm 'tied' at home, unable to get out for a length amount of time due to a chest infection. This is my main reason for using the home delivery service in the first place.

There seems to be contradictory accounts from various managers of what happened yesterday afternoon. Some are saying the shopping was sent back to the store because of an 'unsuccessful' delivery, (which is a load of baloney, cos I was in ) and others are saying the shopping was delivered at my neighbors in number 10

I rung Asda's Head Office this morning to put in a formal complaint,so its now in the hands of them and they are now investigating this farce as I type.

Have you got your money back yet? That would be my first course of action here, to obtain a full refund. Let them squabble about who delivered what, where in their own time. You need a refund because you have paid for shopping that you have not received.

            Hi Cet

I'm glad I stuck to my guns.

It is now 15.07 in the afternoon and Asda have now finally delivered my shopping to my right address.lol

However, it is a fresh batch. Which is good news too. Asda's head office speedy investigation has concluded that my 'old' shopping had been delivered to a number 69-flat 10 !!
I have since found out that the lady had kindly stored all the perishable products in her freezer since 2pm yesterday.

How the driver mistook number 69 for a number 11 ill never know.(he may have had other things on his mind !l ) lol

Seriously tho, for them to give me the run-around since yesterday afternoon and cause me the inconvenience and stress, Asda have agreed to let me have my 'old' batch of shopping for half price of the total cost of my shopping. In other words, my original total was 94 quid. I paid £47. So I have now two lots of shopping for the amount of £141,which IMO is a result.

              Excellent Jas, well done.

The half price shopping is a bit of a result, as long as you don't now go and eat double portions.
