  • Canada Square Claim - I don't even know where to start!

I really need some help. 3 loans with front loaded ppi and a credit card. The period this spans is 2001 - 2012. They sent me a ppi questionnaire in 2013 - I filled it in in June 2015 - we had moved and it had just got filed. The questionnaire related to 1 Loan account number.

I started the complaint with them in 2015 - they rejected, i replied and it went on, resulting in final decision letters - 2 of them - 1 relating to my 3 loan accounts and 1 relating to my credit card. The basis for my claim was a lifelong chronic illness which i was diagnosed with in 1992 and I would never have been able to claim for this - it was and still is, the only thing I am ever ill with. I also mentioned that I specifically checked I would be covered for this illness before proceeding - as I did with all my creditors at that time, specifically as I had been in and out of hospital, various ops etc, etc. It was number 1 on my priority list to ensure I had cover.

These final decision letters happened in Sept 2015 - I became ill (again with my condition), in November and was off work until the end of the following April - hospital visits, investigation etc, etc - at that time, I was house bound. This is no excuse of course, I feel really stupid as I clearly have missed the FOS deadline. I've tried resurrecting this recently with them as I am feeling well at the moment and can manage a certain amount of stress - they've declined obviously to re-open the cases, FOS has also asked them to re-open - they've declined again. My last discussion with FOS has resulted in them saying they will take a look if I fill in a FOS questionnaire and provide my exceptional circumstances information.

I want to know - is it a lost cause - should I forget it and move on? Have I got any grounds to fight? Is there another way to appeal to someone at Canada Square? Canada Square don't know I missed the deadline through illness. Is this worth a shot (probably not, as they don't care).

I have had 417 pages of my SAR request delivered today from Canada Square. I now have all the info I need - my original claim was based on zero paperwork at the time. I am sickened by the amounts of ppi on the loans especially.

Is there anyone who can advise me - they are a brick wall and just won't move on their original Final Decisions. If anyone has any ideas - I for one would be really grateful for the advice.

I am interested to know also can they make their decisions on all 4 accounts, when clearly i only filled in a questionnaire for 1 account?

    Many thanks for reading.

Just a note on this thread, this is updated from my thread back in September. I did say in that thread I had given up with this, but after trawling back through my paperwork I did find lots of hospital and doctors paperwork relating to me being off sick - I had completely forgotten about this, so my apologies for any confusion I may have caused - unfortunately I have so many trips to doctors and hospital, they tend to all blur together

Fill in the form! You have nothing to lose -don’t give up. Canada Square refused point blank to honour other claims and the FOS made them ‘cough up’. Go for it!
