• Fee to Apply for a Job

Hi All

I know it's not legal to charge someone a fee to apply for a job, but research (such as CAB) only throws up Recruitment Agencies not being allowed to charge? I need to show that nobody can.

Can anyone point me at the legislation?

@Ula or @Diana M perhaps?

Hi jaguarsuk think this is what you need. Employment agencies and employment businesses are, as a general rule, prohibited by the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, from charging or seeking to charge work-seekers for the service of finding or seeking to find work for them. However, there are some exceptions to this general rule such as actors, sports professionals, certain type of film crew.

Think we might need a bit more info.

What exactly is this person charging people for?
In what capacity ? Is he the employer ?
How much ?

Sorry, I missed your earlier tag.

Why do you need to show that "nobody" can charge a fee for applying for a job?

Has this happened to you and did you pay?
