  • what does PPI do anyway

25th October....... I have been browsing PPI forum.... but am still not sure what PPI is supposed to do.
    1. If we are paying it - then is it supposed to pay our card payments if we cannot afford to do so??
    2. How do I know whether good old mbna or barclaycard actually charged me for this insurance anyway?
    3. If it is not strictly legal - then what is first approach to getting it refunded?

It is supposed to cover unemployment, sickness, critical illness and ultimately death.

If you look at your credit card statement--it would be detailed on it as "Optional Payment Insurance" in the case of Barclaycard and the amount would be about £.70 per £100 of outstanding balance

See here for outline of claiming

PPI Notes - PLEASE READ FIRST - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum

Its changed a bit though since that was written with the intro of the FOS questionairre

If you have PPI-we need to know why you think you were mis sold it--then we can progress from there and help you

BTW---PPI is not illegal per se----its just the actual original selling of it that may be unfair
