  • Barclaycard application form from 1990

Does anyone have a Barclaycard application form from 1990 please?

I know it's a long shot, but sadly the copy they have sent me is unhelpfully more or less illegible for the relevant section, and I need the exact wording. What I can discern from it reads like you have to indicate in the box to opt out, rather than the usual indicate to opt in.

The final sentence appears to say "If you do not wish to participate in the Payment Protection Plan described above mark X in the box." and the section is titled "9 Payment Protection Plan"

    Here's what it looks like:

    Hi I8Barclays

If it helps--I have just looked at a copy of a 1999 Application and in SECTION 8 there are 2 Paragraphs (with no instructions but assumed that one must be ticked or crossed)

Yes. I want my my Barclaycard Account to be covered against----etc etc

    AND

No. I do not require protection and understand that it is my responsibility to repay the outstanding balance if I am unable to work or die

Thank you. It sounds like you have the same version I have seen from 1994, but back in 1990 it was different = only tick to opt out. I am pretty sure of this from trawling other postings too.
