  • Cash Genie Help!!

    Hi All,

I have found an old screenshot of my bank account that shows I had 2 loans with cash genie in 2010. I sent them a email requesting redress for the 2 loans as they took 894 in interest alone on 2 150 loans. I sent off my claim and they came back saying that there's no record of the 2 loans in 2010, they only have records for one loan that I had in 2011. They have requested my bank account number to check their system. I am really wary of giving them this information as I know what they do when you have an outstanding loan with them. What can they do if I give them that information? I really hate to think of them contacting my bank so what information can they get with that information? Are they just trying to fob me off or why haven't they go any record of the loans? I really don't trust these guys.

Thanks for any help in advance

I understand your apprehension with cash genie as they certainly were Cowboys and I have heard nothing to suggest they have changed. If you do give them your bank account number they would need to set up a direct debit in order to take any money and you could reclaim that with the direct debit guarantee. They would need the sort code as well.

Did you fully repay what they claimed you owed?

How Will The Redress Be Paid?

If you have an open account with an outstanding debt to Cash Genie, we have reduced your outstanding balance by the amount of the redress due. No further interest or fees will be added to your account.
If your outstanding debt to Cash Genie is less than the amount you are due under the redress scheme we have written off the whole outstanding debt and will pay you the difference as a cheque payment. Your account has been closed and you will not need to make any further payments to Cash Genie.
If you have already paid off your Cash Genie loan and your account is closed, you will receive a cheque payment for all of the redress that you are due.
If you were affected by issue 3 - the misuse of banking information - and you had an outstanding Cash Genie loan, we will have written off the whole amount you owe regardless of the amount of redress that you are due. Your account has been closed and you do not need to make any further payments to Cash Genie.

They sent redress for my outstanding loan to MMF, MMF then wiped the 105 that was owing, I had 2 loans in 2010 that they claim are not on their system. I have sent them the only evidence I have which is a screenshot of an old bank statement.

I received the redress for an outstanding loan I had and it was taken down from 1200 to 105, then because of the way MMF handled my accounts and treated me badly, they have written off the balance for those accounts.

I found an old bank statement in PDF form and that showed 2 Cash Genie Loans I had for 135 each then when I was late by a month on the first they took 600 then on the second I was a few days late they took 594. I sent them the statement and they wouldn't accept them, I then found 2 screenshots of that account and they are still asking for more as the loans are not on their system. Out of all my payday loan claims (19 in total) I would've have thought they would be the easiest. But they seem to be trying to wriggle out of everything. They want my account details, but I don't trust them. I would've thought that the statements would've been enough proof.

They are in administrataion. There is no cash at the moment. And the liquidators costs will come first when they do get some cash. I am not sure what they are selling - an intangible such as a brand name or software or whether there is any physical property. But until whatever the asset is is realised, you are not going to get any redress. I know it's annoying but there is nothing that can be done and no time limit for this.
