    Npower and Wescot

    Hi all

My son left his rented property and his landlord didn’t allow him to get a final gas reading

He received a bill for over a grand which I queried with Wescot saying we never had a final reading so it can’t be this high (only in for 6 months)

We have had a letter today back saying Npower have advised that the final figure used was estimated and also used as the new tenants start point as they never gave an actual figure

They are saying therefore it has go to be paid and collection will continue unless I can get an actual reading (tricky as he left on the 3rd April)

Surely they cannot chase on an estimated figure?

    Any advice really appreciated

    Regards

Did your son give NPower the reading when he moved in originally ?
Any other readings between moving in and moving out?
Did he pay the gas bill while he was there ? ( if so how - monthly/qurterly etc) or was this final figure thing to cover the whole time he was there as well ?
Do you know when the new tenants moved in?

      Hi

Yes an opening reading was given
There was a big balls up by NPower as he requested a prepayment meter which was arranged but they couldn’t fit due to weather and never rescheduled
he split with his gf and could only just about the rent council tax and food so never paid whilst there
yes final bill for 6 months but based on estimated final
new tenants moved in day after he left but landlady wouldn’t allow him to get final reading and allegedly npower allowed new tenant to start on estimated which I find hard to believe

      many thanks
