  • Private Debt Solicitor

Please can someone provide me with a name of a solicitor that deals with private debt. I have rung a few people on JustBeagle who have passed me on to someone else who have just told me to go to Citizens Advice Bureau. The solicitors that I have contacted say that they deal with debt, but I think they deal with creditors rather than debtors.

    Thank you

You could try pt2537 or Diana M from on here - they both work for firms who specialise in consumer credit debt ( if you click on the tags you'll see info in their profiles ) It really depends what kind of issues you have though, but if it is a consumer credit court claim, and you're in England/Wales against you then they are your people I believe big firm wise, Stephensons deal with consumer credit debt.

      Thank you.

I have two private debt issues that need to be resolved with a solicitor.

Not to mention all the consumer credit debt that I can hopefully get help with here!

      Kind regards

          Hi PT2537 & Diana M

Do you deal with private debt (loans)? One of which was on a car. A relation, who had a car dealership, sold us a car on HP with a well known car manufacturer, and when we couldn't pay the balloon payment at the end, he paid the debt off, off his own bat and included a ton of interest. Before he sold his business he got a CCJ and we paid monthly installments, which we still do, but he sold his business and they apparently said they did not want this debt, so assigned it to him (which seems odd - surely they wouldn't have bought it in the first place?). He sent us a letter to say that he had sent the court the assigned letter. We have been paying this debt for 10 years and while trying to sort out all of our debts, decided to go to the court to see our file, but the court have no record of this assigned letter.

The other debt was mentioned on http://legalbeagles.info/forums/foru...-after-probate

If this is something that either of you can help with, that would be great. We need to know how to proceed and if the ex-car dealer has a right to this money and if not what we can do and the other is to sort out the charge on the house. We hope you don't charge too much as money is tight.

          Kind regards

What are your other consumer credit debts because that's an area of law which my firm specialises in?

With the existence of email, Skype and the telephone you don't need a solicitor who is based in your local area - we act for clients all over the country.
