  • Wonga rep destroyed on watchdog

While awaiting for another show to start was watching Watchdog. Wonga was on regarding their inept fraud dept and the way they just took peoples money without checking that they were the right customers. Anne Robinson completely inhialated him Telling him that he should refund the poor fraud victims they took the money from at the same rate they lend it out to, the look on his face was a picture. I almost had to change my undies from laughing so much. A perfect end to a perfect day. :tinysmile_grin_t::tinysmile_grin_t::tinysmile_gri n_t::tinysmile_grin_t::tinysmile_grin_t:

I saw that too. I was waiting for Anne Robinson to rip his throat out, which is probably what most of the people Wonga has ripped off would like to do. Oh well, that's another nail in Wonga's coffin with the OFT. They're already in the poo with them over a number of things.

Re: Wonga rep destroyed on watchdog

she did not even give him time to blink , I even still have a few emails of wonga when I was dealing with them a couple of years ago threatening me with fraud proceedings if I went ahead with my bank to refund the money they took.

      here is a sample

We have tried to contact you by telephone today, however we were unsuccessful.

Your current balance is ****** and ** days overdue.

Whilst the account is overdue, interest and charges will be applied to the account and letters issued to protect our interests, until an arrangement is in place.

      Take notice

We have been informed by our bank that you have challenged payment/s that were taken by us. You will be aware that your recent loan was due for payment and that in applying for credit from us, you gave us express permission to collect repayment of those loans from the debit card that you provided to us during your application for credit or any other debit or credit card subsequently provided to us.

Clause 3a of your credit agreement that relates to this permission states:

      3. Payment
      a. You agree to repay us the total amount payable on the date shown under “Key Financial Information”. We will collect this payment by debiting the debit card you have registered with us. If we are unsuccessful in collecting payment, we may try to debit your debit card at a later stage and on more than one occasion. If you have provided us with details of a second debit/credit card and we are unsuccessful in collecting payment from the first debit card, we may seek payment from the second debit/credit card and on multiple occasions as we determine necessary until full repayment is made.

This clause gives us your permission to collect payment on the due date that you selected or on an ongoing basis should you fall into arrears. We exercised this permission on (Payment date). We trust that this clarifies our action and demonstrates that we have acted entirely within the terms and spirit of our agreement with you.

If these transactions are reversed and we incur a loss as a consequence, we will consider that you have willfully and deliberately caused us a loss by misrepresenting to your bank that the transaction was not fair. We may consider this to be fraud as outlined by section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006.

      2. Fraud by false representation
      (1) A person is in breach of this section if he—

      (a) dishonestly makes a false representation, and

      (b) intends, by making the representation—

      (i) to make a gain for himself or another, or

(ii) to cause loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss.

This offence carries a significant penalty as outlined in section 1, of the same Act

      1. Fraud

      (3) A person who is guilty of fraud is liable—

      (a) on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12

      months or to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum (or to both);

      (b) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding

10 years or to a fine (or to both).

It will naturally be our position that, with us having outlined your contractual commitment, that you continue to represent that you were unaware of the reason for the disputed transaction(s) that you are committing an offence of fraud.

      What happens next

If you do not contact us immediately, we will consider taking further action which may include informing CIFAS, the UK’s fraud prevention service, of your misuse of our facility. They will retain this data on a database which is available to most of the UK’s major banks, building societies and other financial services providers. Your current creditors may wish to withdraw your current credit facilities and you may find that the record of your actions seriously inhibits your ability to obtain further credit.

We will also provide a file to the Metropolitan Police, with whom we have an existing relationship in order to pursue this matter through the criminal justice system. We have an excellent working relationship with several Police forces throughout the UK and have a policy of actively supporting the Police in all joint anti fraud operations.

We also reserve the right to commence civil proceedings against you to recover any losses incurred by us as result of your actions. This may include a privately funded prosecution or other formal actions such as issuing a statutory demand in bankruptcy where the value of our loss was of sufficient size.. Failure to respond to the requirements of a statutory demand could lead to your personal bankruptcy. We may also commence legal proceedings against you in the civil courts or we may send a specialist debt collector to your home or place of work.

We may also an 80 to your account to cover the additional expense of us having to deal with this matter.

I have to say, much as I enjoy the show Red or Balck as mindless Saturday night viewing, I'm sure I'm not the only person on here who has said they think it disgusting ITV should accept sponsorship for a show that makes millionaires from the misery of thousands of others.

I know I should get out more, but I hardly ever watch TV these days. I used to try and catch a recording of News at Ten and the local 'roundup,' just so's I could form an opinion and hold a convo with my taxi passengers, but I don't even bother doing that these days. I didn't realise that Anne Robinson was back doing 'Watchdog.' Somehow, that lovely Rottweiler was excellent at that job, IMHO - and wasted on 'Weakest Link.' But we all have to make a living, and go where the work is. As I recall, it was her father Robert Robinson who hosted the original 'Points of View' programme, and I'm sure he would be proud of her.

Maybe I read the wrong sort of magazines, but I have every respect for 'alpha females' like Anne. Are there any replay links for that prog ? Sorry - but I'm cr@p at modern TV technology. That's one piece of porn I really wanna see !!!

Re: Wonga rep destroyed on watchdog

Me thinks the only fraud being committed is by Wonga themselves.

"We will also provide a file to the Metropolitan Police, with whom we have an existing relationship in order to pursue this matter through the criminal justice system. We have an excellent working relationship with several Police forces throughout the UK and have a policy of actively supporting the Police in all joint anti fraud operations."

Would love to know if this is correct and just how many police forces do in fact hold hands with Wonga.
This is sounding very much like the bully boys in civil recovery were stating.

I for one can not believe that the people who wrongly had money taken off them were victims of fraud themselves, more like Wongas rapid financial and identity checks are well and truly flawed.

Ms Robinson was spot on when she said that these poor unfortunate victims of Fraud should be refunded at the same rate as they charge for the loans which I think he said was 1% per day interest.

PMSL, Well if he's their Head of Marketing, they're even more screwed than I thought! I was expecting a nice ex bouncer type to give Anne a bit of a challenge, but instead....Meeky Mouse LOL.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Thanks for the link. Messimoo. You and Cel were right, I reckon. I think I was squirming as much as he was, it was so painful to watch.

Presumably, as Head of Marketing, he is responsible for a sales pitch which seems to be 100% targeted at pensioners. I wonder who is now the proud of owner of his granny, as I'm sure he must have sold her by now.
