  • Barclaycard postal application 1994

Hello LegalBeagles i am hoping you can point me in the right direction with my ppi claim. I made a postal application to barclaycard whilst serving in the Armed Forces. I cannot remember if i ticked a box to opt in for ppi but i have been paying ppi for the last 18 years. I have since been told that the ppi was worthless as the Armed Forces would have covered me in the event of injury/sickness etc. I was not given advice on the ppi so i am assuming it was then not a miss sale issue. I sent the claim form off but have been rejected, the 8 week period had expired so i rang and they told me the letter was sent out in August, 4 weeks ago. I am awaiting to see what the actual wording of the letter states as the reason, but is this worth pursuing with the FOS?

You would be best off doing a CCA request to get a copy of the original agreement, it will show if you ticked the box of if it already been electronically ticked by them when the appilcation was printed. If they reply saying they no longer have a copy then they would have no evidence to back up their decision to not pay you PPI.

Thank you for your warm welcome and advice. I will update this thread when i receive the refusal letter and in the meantime i will send off an application for the CCA request. Can i find a template letter on this site for the request? Again thanks for your help. I have just realised from my statements dating back to 2001 there are 3 different account numbers!!!!!! i do not have any information prior to this date so will send off a subject access request letter for the 3 account numbers and see what comes back
