  • Vehichle TV with BPF

I am also having a nightmare with my TV with BPF. I was unaware at the time that I could refuse to pay the collection fee, so I filled in all the paperwork they sent, which also included a section to state any damage to the car, I did put just general wear and tear and the fact that there were slight scratches round driver door key lock, where keys have obviously knocked against it when opening and I also sent V5 to DVLA naming BPF as new owners. As I did not want to pay the £150 collection fee, I took it to the Manheim auction at Manchester, as instructed. No-one viewed the car or even gave it a once over. I was given a piece of paper to say that the car was handed in 03/04/18 with all docs and spare keys as requested. Full MOT also. Thought that would be the end of it. Then out of the blue 2 weeks ago I got a letter to say the account was in arrears and was being passed to Allied International Credit(UK) Ltd, debt collections and a possible mark on my credit file for non payment. I called BPF and they said I owed them £500 for damages that were found when the auction house did a damage assessment ? Surely, they cant do an assessment without me being there for obvious reasons, not once was this even discussed with me. During the course of the call to the complaints dept., the advisor managed to reduce the bill to £200, go figure !!. I then asked him to send out damage assessment sheet with the photographs included. He has now done this, and they are all related to small rust/ scratches around the wheel frames and roof top. At the time I escalated it further to what he called 2nd tier complaints and not had a phone call or any contact from them yet. The car is over 8 years old, surely it would be expected to have rust and scratches on it somewhere, if its driven 7 days a week. They have also reported the rear window blade broken, this was not broken when I left it at the auction, it was raining and I had to drive it on the motorway, so I am sure I would have noticed that !! They are charging £50 to valet one seat, due to it being *soiled* again not the case. Can anyone help me with this one, do I ask for final response letter and take to CCA,. I read above that they cant put charges on a closed account is that the case here ? It has taken me a few years to get to a respectable credit file, now this could change it all again. Hope someone can help, please ?
