Hi all. Looking for some advice and to pick the brains of the knowledgeable.
My son has received a letter through the post which he has to complete and return, I assume its a notice of prosecution. On the 29th April 2018 my son got caught speeding, doesn't know how, but recalls two police cars going past him and pulling another vehicle over. My son was doing 94mph in a 70, as stated in the letter. This is his first offence, but as of the date of offence he was 1 week shy of passing his test for 2 years. Driving test passed 6th May 2016. Now I'm sure you all know what my questions will be.............
Will he lose his licence, if so, for how long?

Now this is where I need the advice. My son has just moved out of home and got his own place with his girlfriend who is pregnant, due in October. His work is now a 45 minute drive from home, if he were to lose his licence, he would struggle to get to work, due to being shift work, and a 2 hour bus commute each way, and in turn that would cause him financial hardship. Therefore, wouldn't be able to afford his new property.
Is the situation likely to go to court? My son isn't that good at expressing his point of view, so if a letter was written, would/could this be passed to the judge?
